The Castle Heart is an essential structure that powers all your castle's structures and defenses. It can only be built on territorial land, and in so doing claiming the entire territory as your own.

Castle Hearts require upkeep in the form of Item BloodEssenceBlood Essence.
It will remain powered for 24 hours per Item BloodEssence180 Blood Essence.
Running out of blood essence causes your territory and its structures to decay, pausing their functioning until it's refilled.

The castle heart is required to be built on the ground floor, but it does not need to be placed inside the castle you eventually build. As you build your castle, your initial foundation tiles must be connected to it. Once the tiles are in place, additional structures may be built on top of them. Enclosing those floor tiles with walls, doors or windows will generate a roof.

The Castle Heart may be moved freely within its territory and need not connect to a foundation tile. It is also possible to move the entire castle to a new territory, using the Structure CastleRelocationHeartCastle Relocation Heart.

Upgrades[]

Your Castle Heart can be upgraded to increase its max Border tile capacity, its Servant count and its castle power slots.

Castle Heart Actions[]

Rivaling castles may either have their defenses disabled, destroyed or claimed with 1, 1 or 3 Castle Keys respectively by interacting with their Castle Heart. (destroying and claiming are for Merciless PvP Servers only)

Keys can be used on a rival Castle Heart as long as you have access to it, regardless of any castle heart attack status or raid time window.

When a castle's defenses are disabled, the following effects occur for 10 minutes:

  • Temporarily reduces the health of all structures within the castle.
  • Enemy players may use paired Structure RedCastleTeleporterCastle Teleporters inside the enemy castle.
  • All walls, doors, pillars, entrance barriers, and windows become immaterial, allowing players to simply walk through them.
  • All chests / storage, except the Structure VampireLockboxVampire Lockbox can be instantly looted without a cast time.
  • The Owner / Clan may not respawn in coffins or use Structure CastleWaygateCastle Waygates.
  • Servants cannot be revived.

When a castle is destroyed, every structure will be dismantled and the territory claim is revoked. All storage containers will have their loot dropped in bags near the previous Castle Heart.

When a castle is claimed, every structure will be transferred to the claimant, including Prisoners & Servants.
The type of key required must correspond to the level of the Heart attempting to be accessed.
For example, a Item GoldenCastleKeyGolden Castle Key can only access level 4 / 5 Castle Hearts, not level 3s.

On PvE servers, even though there's no threat of raiding, castles may still be destroyed for free if in decay.

Finally, a Castle Heart may be voluntarily Exposed for 5 minutes, allowing for transfer of ownership.
