Daytime plays a very important role in V Rising and is a core concept of the game world.
Time and therefore Daytime is constantly moving forwards on a V Rising server, which creates Day and Night cycles and therefore alternating playstyles during these times.
During night time, players can move on the map freely and even get a buff once in a while during Blood Moon.
During day time, on the other hand, players have to be careful about where they go, as being in direct sunlight creates Sun Exposure, which after a short period of time, starts to inflict high damage to the player and kills them very rapidly, if they don't find cover quickly.
Some V Blood Carriers have dynamic clouds above their fighting area making it easier to fight them during daytime:
- Grayson the Armourer
- Finn the Fisherman
- Quincey the Bandit King
- Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier
- Terah the Geomancer
- Gaius the Cursed Champion
- Octavian the Militia Captain
- Angram the Purifier
- Mairwyn the Elementalist
- Stavros the Carver
- Talzur the Winged Horror
- Megara the Serpent Queen
Day and Night cycle[]
The cycle of day and night is visible to all players through a clock next to the mini-map and shows when day and night hours start. Every 18th night a Blood Moon event will occur, lasting the duration of that night.
The overall length of the day/night cycle is controlled by the Day Length server settings, while the relative portion of that cycle which is daytime is controlled by the Day Time Length server setting. The in-game clock will adjust to match the server settings, showing a greater or lesser portion of the clock as sunlit hours.
The effects of these two settings are summarized in the below tables:
| Setting | Full cycle length (real time) | Ratio to real time | Hour length (real time) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short | 600 seconds (10 minutes) | 144 : 1 | 25 seconds |
| Medium | 1080 seconds (18 minutes) | 80 : 1 | 45 seconds |
| Long | 2160 seconds (36 minutes) | 40 : 1 | 90 seconds |
| Very Long | 3600 seconds (60 minutes) | 24 : 1 | 150 seconds |
| Setting | Daytime length (in-game) | Nighttime length (in-game) |
|---|---|---|
| Swedish Winter | 4 hour | 20 hours |
| Short | 6 hours | 18 hours |
| Medium | 8 hours | 16 hours |
| Long | 10 hours | 14 hours |
| Swedish Summer | 16 hours | 8 hour |
The combination of the above two tables can be used to determine the day and night length, in real time, for any given combination of settings. For example, with Day Length set as Short and Day Time Length set at Swedish Summer, each in-game hour would be 25 seconds long in real time. Days would last 16 hours, or 400 seconds (6 minutes 40 seconds), while nights would last 8 hours, or 200 seconds (3 minutes 20 seconds). On default server settings, with both Day Length and Day Time Length set to Medium, days last for 6 minutes and nights last for 12 minutes, for a total cycle length of 18 minutes.
For ease of reference, below can be found all possible combinations of these settings, and the resulting length of the day and night, respectively:
| Short | Medium | Long | Very Long | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Swedish Winter | 1m40s / 8m20s | 3m / 15m | 6m / 30m | 10m / 50m |
| Short | 2m30s / 7m30s | 4m30s / 13m30s | 9m / 27m | 15m / 45m |
| Medium | 3m20s / 6m40s | 6m / 12m | 12m / 24m | 20m / 40m |
| Long | 4m10s / 5m50s | 7m30 / 10m30s | 15m / 21m | 25m / 35m |
| Swedish Summer | 6m40s / 3m20s | 12m / 6m | 24m / 12m | 40m / 20m |
