Overview[]
Dominate is a Vampire Power that allows you to charm lifeforms with an active blood type and convert them into loyal Servants or Prisoners. Prior to Update 1.1, you could only charm human targets.
However, servant conversion is still limited to humans and draculins only.
To successfully charm a target for conversion to a Servant or Prisoner, activate ![]()
Dominate, and channel the ![]()
Dominate Spell (default key R) to dominate the target. The target may still attack during the channel. The channel will drain the target's health until below 30%, then charm the target. If the target is already below 30% HP (indicated by the "Feed" prompt), only a brief channel is required before the target is charmed.
Once a target is dominated / charmed they will enter a neutral, dormant state where their attacks are disabled, but they can still take damage from enemies. In this state they're able to be placed in a ![]()
Servant Coffin or imprisoned. The ![]()
Dusk Caller consumable allows for the target to be teleported safely to an empty ![]()
Prison Cell.
The conversion process into a Servant costs 100 Blood Essence and takes 20 (10) minutes in real time.
While a target is charmed, the ![]()
Dominate Spell will be replaced by the ![]()
Release Target ability, killing the target instantly upon release.
Limitations[]
- While the power is active, your equipped spells will be replaced with either

Dominate Spell or
Release Target depending on the if you have / have not charmed a human respectively. Your Travel & Ultimate abilities can still be used, as can weapon attacks and skills. - You cannot use other Vampire Powers or forms while

Dominate is active. - You cannot travel through a

Waygate while a target is charmed. However, horse riding and cave travel are still allowed (followers warp to your side if you close doors, or run very fast). - The only draculin units that may be converted into Servants are Vampire Cultists, Night Maidens, Dark Temptresses and Exsanguinators.
- Some targets like Hand of Dracula, Sanguinary Guard, Dreadhorns, Gargoyles & Worm Terror cannot be dominated at all, even though they have an active blood type.
- Despite losing his V Blood type during daytime, Willfred the Village Elder still cannot be dominated.
- An imprisoned human with werewolf capability will turn into a werewolf at night. Previously this would cause them to escape, but with the Gloomrot expansion they now remain imprisoned. They retain their blood quality, enabling you to drain both
Worker Blood and
Creature Blood from the same prisoner.
Strategy[]
It is best to clear out nearby enemies prior to charming a target. This is to ensure that you will not be interrupted while channeling this ability, and will also have an easier time escorting your charmed human back to your base. It may also be good idea to bring along a Horse, in order to reduce the amount of travelling time, though the ![]()
Dusk Caller consumable can largely negate this issue.
